Yesterday, the Harris County School District (HCSD) Transportation Department hosted a simulator-based driver training presentation at the high school in partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
The demonstration provided a hands-on opportunity for drivers and staff to experience realistic hazardous driving scenarios in a safe, controlled environment—reinforcing defensive driving practices and strengthening decision-making under pressure.
“Partnering with the Georgia Department of Public Safety to provide simulator-based training gives our drivers realistic, hands-on experience with hazardous driving scenarios in a safe, controlled environment,” said Thomas Vowell, Director of Transportation for HCSD. “This proactive training strengthens defensive driving skills, improves decision-making under pressure, and ultimately enhances the safety of our students, staff, and community.”
HCSD’s Transportation Department continues to prioritize safety-focused training and proactive strategies that support students, staff, and families across the district.
