ATTENTION: The Harris County School District (HCSD) will begin Online Registration (OLR) and Residency Verification for all families on Monday, April 13, 2026, for students planning to attend Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade during the 2026–2027 school year.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: HCBOE Policy JBCB for Proof of Residency Guidelines has been updated.  Please click the link to read the complete policy. Two important changes to know prior to completing OLR: 

1. HCSD will no longer accept a voter’s registration document as a proof of residency.
2. Parent/Guardian's address listed on their driver’s license must match the address on their additional documentation for Harris County proofs of residency.  

Note: If you are trying to register your child for Pre-K for the 26-27 school year, and have not completed a Pre-K application, please make sure you complete THIS FORM first! 

District leaders emphasize that registration and residency verification are required for all students before class schedules and/or teacher assignments can be finalized.

Registration Deadlines:

  • Upcoming Kindergarten: Wednesday, April 30, 2026

  • Pre-K (confirmed assignments only): Wednesday, April 30, 2026

    • Families with confirmed Pre-K placements must still complete OLR as outlined in their acceptance letters.

  • Rising Grades 1–12: Friday, May 29, 2026

All students must be verified through OLR before class and/or teacher assignments can be made for the 2026–27 school year. During this process, we appreciate everyone’s time and attention,” said Shelia Baker, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services. “It is our job to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us by the residents for the benefit of the students who live here in Harris County.”

Required Documents for Upload:
Families should prepare the following:

  • Three proofs of Harris County residency dated within 60 days

    • Acceptable examples include power, water, gas, cable/internet or landline phone bills; Harris County vehicle registration; or a mortgage/rental agreement at a Harris County address

    • Cell phone bills are not accepted

  • Valid government-issued photo ID for the parent/guardian (one proof must be this document)

  • Student birth certificate (new students only)

  • Student Social Security card (new students only)

  • Georgia Immunization Form 3231 (new students only)

  • Georgia Dental, Hearing, and Vision Form 3300 (new students only)

How to Register:

  • Current HCSD Families:

    • Log in to your Parent Portal account or visit www.harris.k12.ga.us/OLR

    • Select “Existing Student Registration” and choose “Annual Residency Verification 26/27.”

  • Families New to HCSD:

    • Visit www.harris.k12.ga.us/OLR

    • Select “New Student Registration” and choose “Online Registration for New Students 26/27.”
