Chromebook Policy and Agreement
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Harris County School District has implemented a 1:1 student computing program and will provide each student, in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade with a Chromebook to use both at school and at home. All parents should read the information in this message and follow the instructions for your student to be issued a Chromebook at school or for virtual/online learning. All students will be issued a Chromebook whether they are in-school or virtual learners.

Once you have read and understand the Harris County School District Chromebook Policy, Procedures, and Information Handbook, please complete the Harris County School District Consent to Chromebook Handbook Agreement Form at this link, CLICK HERE. Parents must complete this form for each student before a Chromebook can be issued to the student at school.
- Online Registration/Residency Verification must be completed for each student before a Chromebook will be issued.
- Both virtual/online learners and in-school learners will be using their Chromebooks at home. It is strongly recommended that ALL parents purchase the Chromebook protection insurance outlined in the following instructions.
Instructions for Those Who Have Selected the In-School Learning Option:
All students whose parents have chosen the In-School learning option will be issued their Chromebooks at their schools during the first week of school beginning August 10. Prior to the first day of school parents of In-School learners must read the Harris County School District Chromebook Policy, Procedures, and Information Handbook and complete the Harris County School District Consent to Chromebook Handbook Agreement Form at the links above. In-School students will be transporting Chromebooks to and from schools. It is strongly recommended that parents purchase the Chromebook protection insurance online at myschoolbucks.com or at the school via check, cash, or money order.
Instructions for Those Who Have Selected the Virtual/Online Learning Option:
Chromebooks were issued to virtual/online students, at the students' schools on Tuesday August 5 and Thursday August 7. If you were unable to checkout a Chromebook on these dates, please contact your school to make arrangements to checkout a Chromebook. If your student is issued a Chromebook it is strongly recommended that parents purchase the Chromebook protection insurance online at myschoolbucks.com or at the school via check, cash, or money order.
Instructions To Set Up a My School Bucks Account to Pay the Technology and Insurance Protection Fee.
- go to myschoolbucks.com
- Login if you already have a My School Bucks account.
- Click "Sign Up For Free" if you do not have a My School Bucks account.
- Choose "Georgia" in the state menu.
- Choose "Harris" in the district menu.
- Fill in all require account information.
- Click "Create Account."
- Log in to your set up account.
- Click on Chromebook Insurance Fee.
- Complete the purchase.
