K-12 Learning Choice Option (Pre-K information is below)
UPDATED July 30, 2020:
- As of July 27, 2020, the survey to select virtual versus in-person instruction has been closed.
- Starting now, any parent requesting to switch over to virtual instruction must make contact with someone at the school to make the request. Students are now being waitlisted to be placed into virtual classes.
- All K-4 students that chose the virtual option have been rostered with a HCSD teacher.
- K-4 virtual teachers are being notified of rosters on July 30, 2020, at 1:30 p.m.
- K-4 virtual teachers will be contacting parents to host a virtual meet and greet.
- 5-6 virtual students will receive a welcome letter within the next few days with information to include meet and greet
- 7-12 virtual students soon will be able to see their schedules in their Infinite Campus accounts.
July 10, 2020:
So that organizational decisions can be made, this decision needs to be made no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. This is because the planning requires knowing how many students we have choosing on-campus version online instruction. We appreciate everyone's understanding.
To submit your choice, complete the Learning Choice Selection survey. To do so:
- Log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal
- In the Message Center, click on the Surveys tab
- Choose the "Learning Choice Selection" option.
Please know that every contact will receive this survey - Moms, Dads, and guardians. If someone has already completed this process, please disregard this message. Please know if we receive duplicate requests, the most recent submission will be used.
If at least one of your student's parents or guardians did not receive the survey via email, please contact your school's registrar for assistance.
To access an Infinite Campus Parent Portal for the first time or if are having difficulties, please contact your school's registrar/data clerk. Please be patient as they are just returning to school and are fielding many questions. Here is the school list:

Pre-K SelectionAfter careful thought and guidance from the GA DECAL Bright from the Start, it is the plan of the Harris County School District to offer a traditional in-person Pre-K program with school beginning on August 10, 2020. We will not be offering a virtual learning option for the GA DECAL Bright from the Start Pre-K program. As we plan for re-opening schools amongst COVID-19 concerns and to help us effectively assign students to classes, we need to know whether your child will be attending for the traditional in-person school day. Please complete a short survey stating your intent by clicking on the highlighted link below and submitting your survey when complete by Friday, July 17, 2020. Here is the link to complete your decision: Pre-K Intent Form.We appreciate your responses and time. If you have questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Melanie Knight, Coordinator of Academic Support at 706-628-4206, Ext. 2301.
For students who were signed up for bus transportation last year or who have already submitted a transportation request at their school, transportation postcards will be mailed next week. These contain a student's morning and afternoon bus stop and time. If bus transportation is needed and no request has been submitted, parents must contact their designated school to complete and submit the request form. For a bus assignment, all requests must be submitted to the school. The school will submit them to the transportation department.
