Mrs. Stokes
I have always loved music! My earliest memories are of my sister and I dressing up like Barbie and the Rockers and putting on a show for my parents in the kitchen, and singing along to my Disney music cassette tapes in my boombox. I began taking piano lessons in 2nd grade. I joined the church choir as a child, and I also joined chorus and band in Elementary school. I played French horn from 5th grade until I graduated from college.
It was my High School band director that inspired me to be a music teacher. He was very knowledgable about music, but he was also very kind and funny to all the students. He encouraged us to strive to do our best and be proactive in all that we do.
I earned my Music Education degree from Columbus State University. My instructor in my Elementary Music classes was so energetic and had such a passion for music that I decided I wanted to teach Elementary students. My first teaching job was in Troup County where I taught for 12 years. I took a year off after my 2nd daughter was born. I was coming home from a beach vacation with my husband when I heard about a job opening in Harris County. I couldn't pass up the opportunity for an interview. The rest is history. This is my 4th year here at Mulberry Creek, and I still love music and enjoy seeing the enthusiasm from students.
