Special Education

Welcome to the Special Education Services area of the Harris County School District's website. We offer a wide range of programs serving students from preschool through age 21 that address a variety of student and family needs and concerns. Our program goals, curriculum and materials are developmentally appropriate and focused towards meeting the individual needs of each student. Notification of Destruction of Special Education Records

In accordance with state and federal regulation implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), this notice is to inform you of Harris County Schools’ intent to destroy personally identifiable information related to special education services maintained on students who received special education services under an Individualized Education Plan while attending Harris County Schools, but who are no longer enrolled.  The reason for the destruction of special education records is that they are no longer needed to provide education services.

*The district may maintain a permanent record, without time limitation, of a student’s name, address, and phone number, his/her grades, attendance record, classes attended, grade level completed, and year completed.
