Online Student Registration
ATTENTION: Online registration will open for the 2024-25 school year on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. OLR links for the 24-25 school year will not be active until this date.
If you are trying to register your child for Pre-K for the 24-25 school year, and have not completed a Pre-K application, please make sure you complete THIS FORM first!
The Harris County School District is proud to announce Online Registration/residency verification for Harris County families, for the 2024-25 school year. Families that are new to Harris County will access the online registration by clicking the menu to the left titled, "New Student Registration." Be sure to select "Application Year 2024-25."
Current Harris County families will access the online registration/verification through their existing Parent Portal account by clicking the menu to the left titled, "Existing Student Registration." You will also have the option to add other (new/current) students within your existing household while updating your current registration. Be sure to select "Application Year 2024-25."
Deadlines for Registration and Verification:
1. Upcoming Kindergarten: Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
2. Pre-K with confirmed assignments only: Tuesday, April 30, 2024. (Though incoming Pre-K parents have already completed initial Pre-K registration, they are also REQUIRED to complete registration through OLR if they have a confirmed Pre-K assignment. Pre-K parents please refer to your acceptance letter for OLR instructions.)
3.Upcoming grades 1 through 12: Friday May 31, 2024
All students must be verified through OLR before class and/or teacher assignments can be made for the 2024-25 school year.
Please gather the following information prior to beginning the registration process:
- Household Information -- address, phone numbers, and THREE proofs of residency (more information, below).
- Parent Information -- work and cell phone numbers, government issued photo ID, email addresses.
- Student Information -- demographic (including birth certificate and social security card) and health/medication information.
- Emergency Contact Information -- addresses and phone numbers.
- Documents to be uploaded -- THREE proofs of residency, birth certificate, social security card, parent photo ID, immunization forms, eyes/ears/dental forms etc. (can be in any format such as photos (JPEG), PDF, or MS Word.)
Proof of Residency:
Harris County Schools requires THREE specific Proof of Residency documents, and all three forms must be provided at the time of enrollment or enrollment will not be finalized.
ONE of the following must be presented at the time of enrollment:
- Enrolling LEGAL parent or guardian’s driver’s license showing the same residence information as provided on the other proofs of residency. This will be presented and copied by Harris County Schools’ personnel.
OR
- Valid enrolling LEGAL parent or guardian’ passport showing the same residence information as provided on the other proofs of residency. This will be presented and copied by Harris County Schools’ personnel.
OR
- Military ID or other valid government issued picture identification showing the same residence information as provided on the other proofs of residency. This will be presented and copied by Harris County Schools’ personnel.
AND
TWO proofs of residency from the list below:
*NOTE: Documents presented for residency verification must include the same address as the accompanying utility bill.
- Proof of Harris County Homestead Exemption;
- Proof of purchase of valid or current Harris County automobile tag(s)/vehicle registration(s); Harris County Schools will not accept automobile tags/vehicle registrations that are within 30 days of their expiration date.
- Utility bills dated within the last 60 days on the residence where the parents and student(s) reside within Harris County:
a. Electricity Bill showing the name and address of the enrolling LEGAL parent/guardian.
b. Gas Bill showing the name and address of the enrolling LEGAL parent/guardian.
c. Water Bill showing the name and address of the enrolling LEGAL parent/guardian.
d. Cable/Internet/Satellite Bill showing the name and address of the enrolling LEGAL parent/guardian.*NOTE: Service address for utility bills must be in Harris County for documents presented for residency verification.
- Mortgage statement showing recent payment within 30-60 days of submission;
- Rental/lease agreement for dwelling in Harris County:
• No month-to-month leases accepted.
• Lease must list all persons living in the home – including the student(s) to be enrolled.
• Lease or rental agreement with term dates and listing of all occupants.
• Landlord’s signature must be on the lease, and landlord’s ownership must match property’s address. -
Building/Occupancy Permit if moving into a newly constructed home; Families who have a building permit AND are actively constructing a home will be allowed to enroll their children in Harris County Schools. Construction must be substantially complete within one calendar year or the children will be withdrawn. A full-year deposit will be required until the construction is complete.
a. Current sales agreement for residential property erected and verified by the Tax Records of Harris County, Georgia.
b. If property has closed within the last three (3) months, the signed closing settlement statements will suffice. A non-contingent sales contract for property is NOT acceptable. -
Current Homeowner’s Insurance Policy with policyholder information matching enrolling LEGAL parent/guardian’s identification address information.

Determination of where the child(ren) sleep at night.

Anyone using a residency affidavit to attend Harris County Schools may register/verify online according to the instructions above; however, all residency affidavit online registrations will be placed on hold until a new residency affidavit for the 2024-25 school year is approved in-person with the Harris County School District's Social Services Department.
